Acne Fighting Skincare with Avene

For the best part of a couple of months my acne has been playing up, one minute my skin seems clear then bam, one little spot comes along and then a few more and a few more. It turns into a bit of a vicious circle and as a 21 year old girl I can't help but feel insecure about it, especially when acne is something I've had non stop for just over five years. I don't think I will ever be completely clear, especially from the scarring that the acne leaves but I've come across a pretty fantastic skincare duo that is working really well for me and my skin.

A brand that I've never even thought about trying but one that I'm so glad I decided to delve into is of course Avene. I had heard many good things about their Cleanance range and their abilities to help combat acne so of course I decided to start there.

On one of Escentuals 1/4 off Skincare deals I decided to pick up the Avene Cleanance Cleansing Gel and the Avene Cleanance Expert Emulsion

Acne Fighting Skincare with Avene

The Avene Cleanance Cleansing Gel is of course of a gel consistency, something my skin happens to love and is suited for those with oily, blemish prone skin. To apply I just squeeze a pea sized amount onto the palm of my hand, add water, lather, apply and rinse. It leaves my skin with a very fresh, clean feeling and surprisingly smells quite good. It is multi purpose too. You can use it on the face as I do but it can also be used on the body too. The Cleansing Gel is soap-free and non-comedogenic so there's no chance of getting clogged pores.

As for the Avene Cleanance Expert Emulsion, it is of the cream variety but thin in consistency and comes in a 40ml tube which has lasted me quite a while. I still have a lot of product left. I simply dot a pea sized amount on each part of my face. A lot really isn't needed. I choose to apply it both day and night to get better and quicker effects. One thing I really do think you need with this is persistence. It takes a while to work but once you get into a routine with it you start to see the difference in your skin. My skins texture has certainly changed a lot, including my scarring too and I have had reduced breakouts since using. I can only liken it to the La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo I love.

I will sure be having a look through the range soon and see if anything else floats my boat the way this magical duo does to fight acne.

You can purchase the Avene Cleanance Cleansing Gel from Escentual for £10.50 and the Cleanance Expert Emulsion for £15.00.

Have you tried anything from the Avene Cleanance Range before?

Lush Brightside Bubble Bar

I am rather partial to a lovely relaxing bubble bath, more so in the autumn/winter but I still enjoy it in the summer too despite the slightly warmer weather. As a working mum that time alone is rather rare as I'm either working or looking after Alfie so I like to grab that time when I can.

A bubble bath really helps me to unwind after a long day and there's no bath product that makes me enjoy that rare time alone than a Lush bubble bar. I have my fair share of them and I stock up when I can. As my local lush store is a little over an hour away by train it's not always possible. I have been using one bubble bar in particular more often than others lately which comes in the form of the Brightside Bubble Bar

The Brightside Bubble Bar is similarly designed like the Comforter(which I adore) but aside from that, the colour, scent and ingredients are entirely different. Including such ingredients as Mandarin Oil, Bergamot Oil, Gardenia Extract and more.

The scent is very citrusy, almost like oranges. I can only liken it to the smell of Orange Fanta. Strange but it smells so good and I can still detect the smell at least half an hour in. It's surprisingly quite an uplifting and scent and so makes me feel really relaxed but awake.

As for the bubble bar itself, it turns my bath a lovely bright orange but unfortunately the bubbles didn't last too long due to moving around all the time. Hardly surprising but it's a very bulky bubble bar so I only need to crumble a small piece of the bubble bar under the tap. I get at least 4-5 baths out of it which makes it worth the money at £4.75 a pop. I will definitely be repurchasing when I next visit my local Lush Store.

August Beauty Favourites

It's that time of the month again where I gather up all of my favourite beauty based products that I've been loving during the month of August. Isn't it insane how fast this year has gone and how close we are to Christmas? My inner child is just waiting to burst out in excitement.

Anyway, let's get down to the nitty gritty. Well it's mainly makeup based with a little fragrance thrown into the mix. I'm normally one to stick to the same things but I've been sticking to my guns and decided to delve through my makeup(and purchase more, oops) in order to see if I can find any new favourites.

First of all is the Hollister Silver Strand Beach Mist. Oh my my my, honestly this smells incredible. It is a very refreshing scent and so it instantly awakens me in the mornings. I've been spritzing this body mist daily and carry it in my handbag everywhere. I have another body mist in another scent too but this is without a doubt my favourite of the two. No doubt there will be a review on these soon.

I have a new brow favourite. I am a total perfectionist when it comes down to my brows and I very rarely change up my brow routine and tend to stick with what I know. After reading many rave reviews about the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz I purchased it and it's safe to say I have no regrets. It's honestly amazing. I do take a while doing my brows to get them 'on fleek' and I can do this within minutes. It is so quick and easy to use, super pigmented and best of all, it suits my hair colour(I have the shade Medium Brown). What else can I say? I adore it.

Oh and I also have two new lip product favourites too, both of which are in the nude category. First up is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Pure Hollywood. Somewhat of a cult lip product and one I haven't put down. It suits me down to a tee and I never have to reapply as it stays put all day. The other nude lip offering comes from the new Kate Moss Nude Lipstick collection(hardly new, it released over a month ago). It is the shade 45 which is a mauvey toned, brown shade. It has a very moisturising formula and stays put for a good 2-3 hours at least.

For once I have a hair favourite. It has been a long time coming but I have made  a switch from using the Tangle Teezer to The Wet Brush. It's incredible what a change in hair brushes can do. The Wet Brush glides through my hair with ease, no tugging or pulling and makes brushing my knotty hair after a bath/shower completely painless.

I jumped on the bandwagon again after multiple positive reviews of the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara made its way into the blogosphere so of course I had to give it a go. It makes my lashes look a lot more noticeable and longer in length. It looks a little like you're wearing fake lashes(not that I've used them before), they're too much of a bleeding nightmare to apply. I don't want to say too much as there will be a full detailed review on this beaut within the next couple of days or so, so keep updated if you'd like to know more.

What have you been loving in the month of August?

Dr Pawpaw Original Balm | Review

My lips tend to get super chapped and dry no matter what the weather but especially during the cold winter months. Dry lips are not the most attractive of sights, especially if you like a good slick of the ol' lipstick like me so I like to keep them in the best condition.

The one product I tend to reach for when the lips are in need of a little tlc is a super hydrating lip balm. I had been using Carmex lip balm for the longest time as it never let me down but I decided that I was in need of a change. The *Dr PawPaw Balm came into my sights at just the right time.

Let's start off with the packaging first. The balm is packaged inside a small, bright, almost fluorescent yellow tube with black writing which definitely stands out. It is a 10ml tube which, yes, seems a little small but I'm positive it will last me quite a while. You can also purchase it in a bigger size(25ml).

Dr Pawpaw Balm is in fact a multipurpose, natural product, including just four ingredients(the main being pawpaw) and is also fragrance free. It can be used for a variety of purposes; for nails, feet, lips, cuticles, skin etc. It has also been said that you can use it as a nappy cream too.

I must admit I didn't use it for all of these purposes. I have used the balm mainly for the lips to help soothe and repair but I have tested it on my heels too. You know how dry and cracked they get through the summer, urgh.

The formula is a little on the thick side and it can be a struggle to squeeze out of the tube but damn, this is some hydrating stuff. I apply it on my lips before applying my makeup and boy does it sink in quickly. It makes my lips feel so moisturised and soft. It's just what a girl needs in a lip balm. It's the perfect base for a lip product.

I absolutely love this balm and I shall be using it non stop during the coming months. You can purchase the Dr Pawpaw Balm here in a bigger 25ml size for £6.95.

Have you tried the Dr Pawpaw balm? What do you think?
