Are you enjoying the change in seasons? I'm a bit baffled. I love wrapping up in super comfortable winter wear, the (almost) daily dose of hot chocolate and the lead up to Christmas, but gheeze, it is just beyond freezing. I am hating that, the instant brain freeze you get as soon as you walk out the door. I just can't cope, haha. Escaping that though, I do love the changes in makeup from Summer to Autumn/Winter and there's nothing I love more than a good ol' bold lip. Normally I'm one to stick to what I know suits me, the pinks and nudes, but since Autumn arrived I've been aiming more out of my comfort zone with darker and brighter tones and I am loving it.
So what are my Top Autumn/Winter Lipsticks?
One that I quite like is the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella. It's a striking deep red. Not leaning towards vampy but not bright either, it sits just in the middle of the two which I love. It surprisingly goes well with my skin tone too and does not make me look any paler than I am, thankfully. In fact I think it completely compliments and flatters me. I can imagine it would go incredibly well with every skin tone. I will definitely get a helluva lot of use out of it while it's still appropriate to wear a darker lip before the warmer months approach, but there's plenty of time for that.
One of my favourite lipstick launches this year is without a doubt the Clinique Lip Pops and the latest addition to my little collection is Clinique Cherry Pop. A bright blue toned red with a very moisturising and creamy formula. It smooths over my lips with ease and is seriously pigmented. One swipe of Cherry Pop completely enhances and brightens up my complexion. It's my perfect bright red this Autumn and Winter.
Another NARS favourite is the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Provocative Red, a slightly dark-medium, mauvey-plum shade. I'm so terrible at describing this. *Insert hands over eyes monkey emoji*. This particular lip pencil is actually from the NARS True NARS Holiday Gifting set(which you can read about here) and is sadly a limited edition shade. It is quite muted and is very wearable. It looks completely different on a variety of skin tones. In natural lighting it actually looks a little bit similar to MAC brave but is in fact darker in tone.
Lastly is my favourite, MAC Brave, a medium pink toned nude. My all round favourite nude(apart from Clinique Beige Pop). It is a satin finish which feels a little creamy on the lips with a slightly shiny finish and incredible pigmentation(as always with Mac lipsticks). It's opaque with one swipe and not sheer in any sense. I'm looking to purchase the soar lipliner to go with it to give a much more defined lip. It is completely gorgeous.
