Best Face Masks for Combination and Acne Prone Skin

My skin is always in dire need of some serious tlc. I always try to have at least two nights a week where I have my own pampering session, starting with a nice relaxing bubble bath with a lush bath bomb or two, my usual skin regime and a face mask or two(thank god for multi-masking!). I've even started painting my own nails too to give me an extra confidence boost.

Now, speaking of Face Masks, they are an absolute necessity for a pamper night. They help me with any skin concerns that I may have. I have combination and acne prone skin so anything that will help combat those are perfect for me. In fact I have five wonderful face masks to show you that do just that. If you have acne prone, or possibly combination skin like me then read on to find out my favourites.

Best Face Masks for Combination and Acne-Prone Skin

One of my favourite brands for face masks are undoubtedly Origins. They have a vast range of face masks dedicated to any skin concern, from ageing to dry and dehydrated skin, and of course acne prone skin. I actually have two different face masks to show you which you may or may not have heard about before. First up is the Clear Improvement Mask(£24). It includes bamboo charcoal and white china clay which works to draw out any impurities that lay beneath the surface of the skin and dissolves them. After use my pores are tightened and the next day my spots are visibly reduced with less redness. I talk about this face mask in more detail here

Another from Origins is the Out of Trouble Face Mask(£24). If I am having a reaaally bad skin day I always reach for this one. It smells minty fresh which I love, but that's down to the camphor within the mask which is known for its calming properties. It also includes the spot busting ingredient salicylic acid to slough off dead skin cells too. I like to use a thin layer of this all over my face(avoiding the eyes) and neck and leave it to dry down for 10 minutes, then remove with a face cloth. My spots look less angry and calm and my complexion feels so smooth after using. I love this.

My favourite to use in the autumn/winter seasons is the Sanctuary Spa 5 Minute Thermal Detox Mask(£10). They have not long ago changed up the packaging on their skincare products so I have the older packaging, not that it makes any difference to the actual face mask itself. Anyway, it is a self-heating face mask which adds warmth to the face in order to deep cleanse and open up the pores to draw out all the daily dirt and grime. I apply a small amount to the face and leave it on for 5 minutes as suggested, or even 10 minutes sometimes. It makes my skin feel so rejuvenated and soft. For just 5 minutes of use it makes such a delightful difference to my skin.

And lastly is the Glam Glow Supermud Clearing Treatment49). It features many fab ingredients such as glycolic acid and salicylic acid to improve the skins texture and de-clog the pores. Although it may be a bit pricey, I personally think it's worth it. It smoothes out the skin, reduces breakouts and just feels really luxurious on the skin. If you get up close to a mirror after it's dried down after 10/15 minutes you can see the face mask doing its job. I cannot rave about it enough. I love it so much that I'm scared I will run out of it soon.

Lastly is a face mask which is entirely new to me, the L'Oreal Pure Clay Detox Mask(£7.99). I don't want to say too much about this as I have a review on all of the L'oreal Pure Clay Masks coming up very soon. It is made up of three different clays, combined with charcoal, which are designed to eliminate the impurities and dirt which contributes to acne. It is quite a creamy texture but you only need a small amount to see the benefits. It is quite like Glam Glow masks in a way as you can see in various places where your pores are being opened and the dirt being drawn out. Sounds disgusting but at least you know its doing its job. It is a fab price too, so if you're in dire straits of a new face mask which doesn't break the bank, this may be the one for you.
