The New Rimmel #Insta Collection Review and Swatches

Out of all the major drugstore brands on the highstreet right now, Rimmel is one of my favourites(alongside Maybelline of course). I have been so loyal to the brand over the years. I don't think there's been one single product that I've ever been disappointed by. I have repurchased their Match Perfection Foundation countless times and their lipstick formulas are second to none. I always get so excited when Rimmel announce a new launch. I was particularly excited by their latest, the #Insta Collection.

Rimmel #Insta Collection

The collection is pretty extensive, consisting of contour and highlighting sticks, conceal and contour palettes, a conceal and correct palette, setting spray and a translucent powder. There's pretty much everything you need to get Insta ready.

My personal favourite from the collection is the #Insta Fix and Matte Powder(£4.99). I have always been a fan of their powders, particularly the Stay Matte Powder. It served me well for years. The powder comes within a sleek compact with a see-through lid which to me looks so pleasing as you can see the powder through it. The powder itself is translucent with hashtags printed into it which is a nice touch. It sets my makeup well and doesn't make me look cakey, nor does it cling to any dry patches. I believe I can pack as much of this powder onto my skin as possible and it still wouldn't look as though I had applied too much. It keeps my base well and truly locked in place for the best part of around 4-5 hours before it needs touching up which is actually pretty good when it's coming from the drugstore. It's really impressed me.

You probably all know how much I love a good setting spray. I have quite a few in my collection, some that adds some radiance to the skin and others that mattifies. The #Insta Fix and Go Setting Spray(£6.99) is well and firmly placed in between the two. It is a setting spray and primer in one which can be used before and after makeup to keep your makeup put throughout the day. I much prefer to use it as a setting spray after I've applied my full face of makeup as opposed to using it as a primer before though. It has a very refreshing cucumber scent which is perfect in this hot weather, should you feel the need to cool down. The scent instantly awakens me which is exactly what I need at the moment with the lack of sleep that a new baby brings.

I'm not normally one for corrector palettes if I'm honest. They've just never really interested me but I wanted to give it a go. The #Insta Conceal and Correct Palette(£6.49) contains three different colour correctors that fix three key flaws on the skin. The peach is meant to be applied under the eyes to hide dark circles, the green is to reduce signs of redness and the lilac shade cancels out signs of dull and sallow skin. The formula is so creamy and it blends out wonderfully, evening out my skintone in the process.

The #Insta Conceal and Contour Palette(£6.49) is a trio which includes a highlight, contour and concealer. It comes in three different shades, Light, Medium and Dark, so it caters for all skin tones. The Light palette is the most suitable for me as I have quite fair skin. The formula is lovely and creamy just like the Conceal and Correct Palette, and easy to blend out. The highlighter isn't what you'd expect to be, it's more of a brightening concealer than anything which I quite like. The contour shade within the Light palette leans a little warm but with my neutral undertone it works quite well. As for the the concealer shade, that's quite nice too, although I much prefer to use it to blur out my blemishes rather than as an under eye concealer as it can look a little heavy when used under the eyes.

Lastly is the #Insta Duo Contour Stick(£6.99). You can get these in three different shades, Light, Medium and Dark. On one end of the stick is a highlight which adds a lovely subtle glow when applied to the higher points of the face and on the other is a contour to add some soft, natural definition. They have a lovely light but creamy consistency which makes blending an absolute dream. There's absolutely no harsh lines to be seen when using these. If you're quite fair skinned like me then you'll definitely love these, the Light stick brings my pale complexion back to life, making my cheekbones stand out a lot more and it makes my face look a little bronzed too. It's perfect for beginners if you're just starting out with highlighting and contouring.

Overall I absolutely adore this collection, there really is some fab gems within the range, particularly the Setting Spray and Powder. They are my two favourites out of the whole collection, although the whole range is rather marvellous. Those are just my personal favourites.
