The Best of Beauty 2017 | Makeup

I know, I know, we are nearly at the end of January already but I wanted to get my two cents in about the makeup products I well and truly fell for in 2017, so instead of ending this months with my favourites, I'll be talking to you all about The Best in Beauty from 2017 in multiple posts consisting of Makeup, Skincare, Bodycare, Haircare and Fragrance. As there isn't long at all left before January is over I will more or less compile one or two of those categories together.

Today we are going to start off with Makeup because, well, it's my favourite topic, and I'm sure I have discovered more products within makeup than I have in any other beauty category. So many stood out to me last year. I was using pretty much every single one of these products on the daily and the rest of my makeup collection just got stuck in their drawers. Sorry, not sorry. This year I am determined to switch it up and try out some new brands.

The Best of Beauty 2017 Makeup

The Violet Voss Holy Grail Palette(£43) has been my go-to eyeshadow palette all year round ever since I bought it. It was so hard to get a hold of in the UK until it arrived on Beauty Bay. Urgh, the struggles I had to even get my hands on this. I missed multiple restock dates and just when I was about to give up, it came back in stock again, and am I glad. It contains 20 high quality, wearable eyeshadows with a selection of metal, satin, and matte finishes to choose from. The palette is absolutely gorgeous. The eyeshadows are so easy to blend in and the pigmentation is insanely good. You can find out more here.

There were so many lip products that I discovered last year that I loved but the one product that really caught my eye and kept me wanting more are the Jouer Lip Cremes(£15), particularly the shade 'Dulce de Leche'. It's the most perfect cool toned nude for my fair skin. I have used it so often, I've nearly ran out which I'm so gutted about. Luckily I have a small sample size from the Jouer Best of Nudes set to keep me going for a while longer, but once that's ran out I will be repurchasing.

The Mascara I kept going back and forth to is the *Lancome Monsieur Big Mascara. Aside from the fact the name is inspired by Sex and the City, it is a mascara that does everything you need it to. Not only is it intensely black but it volumizes, lengthens and it lasts for hours throughout the day without smudging. A couple of coats of this and I'm good to go. It gives you an almost false lash effect which I adore.

Highlighter is one of the things that I cannot be without in my makeup routine. I have many in my stash but the one I was reaching for more than most is the Jouer Powder Highlighter in Rose Quartz(£19). It is a champagne pink with warm undertones and it feels ever so creamy too. It completes any makeup look. You can find out more about it here.

I must've raved about the *Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear 24 hour Foundation(£31.50) so many times. I don't think I gave any other foundation a chance last year as I was completely enamoured with this. I always seem to compare any foundation to this particular one now. It's a full coverage foundation with a lightweight feeling and it has incredible staying power too. The shade 008 is the perfect shade for me which I love. I find it so difficult to find foundations that match my skin with my neutral undertones. They're usually too pink or yellow toned but this is just perfect, I love. If you've been reading my blog for a while then you will know that I love a long lasting, full coverage base. One of the products I use often to keep my makeup lasting all day is a setting spray, the Urban Decay All Nighter Spray(£23.50) particularly. I bought it in a travel size years ago and somehow didn't repurchase, but when Urban Decay relaunched it in their brand spanking new packaging, I was kindly sent another travel size of the setting spray over. Once I tried it, I remembered how much I loved it before, then once I ran out of that, I only went and bought it in the full size. I think that goes to show how much I enjoy it. It keeps my base in place all day and it smells so refreshing and just divine. You can read all about it here

Last but in no means least is the Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso(£10). So many people were raving about it and I just felt the need to buy it. I am easily persuaded, but boy am I glad I bought it. It is like no other blush I have in my collection. It's a beautiful peachy pink with a subtle pearlescent finish to it which instantly makes me look healthy and gives me that lit from within glow, it's truly stunning.
