New In from Maybelline | Total Temptation Mascara and Brow Definer

Back in February Maybelline launched their latest collection to date, the Total Temptation makeup collection, which consists of three products, the Total Temptation Mascara, Eyeshadow and Highlight Palette and Brow Definers. I have had the pleasure of trying out the Mascara and Brow Definer over the last two months, which has given me more than enough time to gather my thoughts together and report back to you.

Maybelline Total Temptation Mascara and Brow Definer

First up is the Total Temptation Mascara(£8.99). I absolutely love the cute peachy-pink packaging with the bold lettering. Inititally when I looked at the mascara I thought that it was quite bulky looking for a mascara tube but it feels as light as a feather once you pick it up. I know some mascara tubes can be quite a lot to handle, but that's certainly not the case here.

Packaging aside, the mascara wand is one of my favourites. It has natural bristles which makes applying the mascara to my lashes an absolute breeze. Plastic mascara wands can be my friend or foe as they can either irritate or accentuate my lashes, so I am pretty happy with the choice of brush Maybelline used for this mascara as I tend to get on better with mascaras with natural bristles as they feel the most comfortable to use. It's not the biggest, nor the smallest of brushes so it's very easy to grip onto all the lashes(including those little baby ones) without it smudging or smearing everywhere too.

The formula is extremely black which adds a lot of definition and drama, though it is slightly different to other mascaras I have tried as it is infused with coconut extract. I admit I had a little sniff before applying it straight to my lashes and the coconut scent was faint. You definitely wouldn't be able to tell it was coconut infused, unless told otherwise.

As always with a mascara, I apply it to my lashes in a wiggle or a zig zag motion as I find it's the best method to get as much length and volume as possible . Unfortunately it didn't lengthen my lashes as well as I had hoped, though it did add a great amount of volume.  You can add as many coats as you like too without having to worry about it clumping up or flaking off. If anything my lashes felt a little softer and less 'tacky', if you know what I mean. It's kind of hard to explain, but it's nice. I'd like to think that's the coconut doing it's job and conditioning the lashes.

And now onto the Total Temptation Brow Definer(£7.99). It is currently available in three different shades- Blonde, Medium Brown and Deep Brown. I have been using the shade Deep Brown. I initially thought it was going to be way too dark for me as I have blonde balayage(though it's fading and in need of a complete refresh). I would've thought medium brown would be better suited to me, though I can't say it would right now, however Deep Brown isn't actually as dark as I first anticipated. It surpringly matched my hair quite well as it's quite cool toned.

As for the packaging, it's double ended, with a small rounded spoolie on one end and the brow definer on the other. It has a mechanical wind up feature too so you can just wind it up whenever you're running low on product.

The brow definer itself has a teardrop shaped tip with one side looking slightly narrower than the other, which in turn makes it easy to achieve a thin or thick line. The formula is very soft(but not soft enough that the pencil snaps off) so it glides onto the brows with ease, filling them in and adding definition within minutes. It reminds me of the Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil at a fraction of the price. I wouldn't say it's a dupe for the Benefit Brow Pencil though, but it's close. I really highly recommend it!

Have you tried anything from the Total Temptation Collection?
