Rimmel Stay Satin Lip Colour Review and Swatches

Over a month or so ago I was lucky enough to win one of Rimmels PR packages on Twitter. It was a huge shock and very unexpected. A few days later a huge package arrived in the form of a boom box which was pretty cool, and inside there was the full range of their Stay Satin Lip Colours, alongside their brand new Maxi Blushes. I have since been putting the Stay Satin Lip Colours to the test, and I am pleased to say I'm so impressed.

The Rimmel Stay Satin Lip Colour is a liquid lipstick with a Satin finish, which follows on from their Stay Matte Lip Colour range. They are very much identical packaging wise, except the Stay Matte has a frosted effect on the barrel and the Stay Satin has a clear barrel, making it easier to tell both of them apart.

There are a total of fourteen different shades within the Stay Satin Lip Colour line, and I have all fourteen shades to share with you. The colour range is incredible. There are a few bright shades, as well as your classic nudes, and even a daring grey shade too. There is definitely a shade for everyone here.

A few years ago if you had asked me what my favourite lip colour was, I would've said bright pink, but over the years I've been leaning more towards nudes. My everyday makeup look is pretty much big, dramatic eyes, plenty of highlighter, and a nude lip. I am very much into the nude colours in this range. If I'm honest, those are the ones I have been wearing the most, but I do love a bright red lip too.

The shades within the range are:

- Atomic (Light Purply-Lilac)
- Take a Chill Pill (Cool Toned Yellowy-Brown Nude)
- Have a Cow (Deep Plum)
- Shoulder Pads (Muted Rosy Pink)
- Glam Rock (Grey with a Green tinge)
- Yuppie (Light Coral)
- Obsession (Light Fuschia)
- Sike (Light Pink Nude)
- Redical (Striking Bright Red)
- For Sure (Dark Purple)
- Scrunchie (Bright Pinky-Coral)
- It Girl (Medium Pink Toned Nude)
- As If! (Light Brown Nude with a hint of Pink)
- Rad (Deep Red)

The formula of the Satin Lip Colours is wonderful. They have a slightly sweet, fruity scent to them, which is just divine, though some shades differ, which is strange. Others have a vanilla scent. It is a little strong, but once you apply it to your lips the smell just dissipates. The pigmentation is pretty intense with just one swipe which I absolutely love, and I only require at least two swipes of the lip colour to evenly coat my lips. It feels ever so creamy on the lips upon first application and it dries down to a satin finish after a minute or two. As with many other liquid lipsticks, it still shows my lip lines after a while of wear, though I didn't expect it due to the satin formula. I expected it with a drying, matte formula, but not with this. It's not any trouble though. It doesn't show them as much as the matte formula does, but I do like to make sure my lips are fully prepped with a lip scrub and a balm beforehand.

After two to three hours of wear I found myself checking to see if my lipstick was still on as it didn't feel like I was wearing any, and lucky for me it was still there. It hadn't budged at all. It felt so comfortable and lightweight. And a few hours later, after a drink and a greasy burger, the lipstick did move slightly, with a little feathering on my bottom lip and it transferred a little too, but it still left a slight stain on my lips. Nothing too dramatic. I only needed a small touch up. I guess, that's what you'd expect from a Satin formula anyway.

I wouldn't say it lasts the full eight hours it claims but I would go as far to say it lasts at least maybe five hours before fading. That's actually pretty good for a drugstore liquid lipstick. Even some of my higher end liquid lipsticks don't last that long on my lips.

My favourite shades of the fourteen in the range are Sike, Shoulder Pads and It Girl. Yes, they are pretty much classic nudes, but they all have different undertones and they aren't too pale for my skin. Most nudes can really wash me out, but luckily for me, these don't. The one lipstick that doesn't do me any justice is Take a Chill Pill. That's way too cool toned for my liking.

Overall, I really love these liquid lipsticks. I think they are great value for money. The formula glides on so smoothly, and the shade range is impressive. I really hope they extend the line with more daring shades, and perhaps a few more nudes too.

For only £5.99 each, you really can't go wrong. You can buy them from Boots or Superdrug and many other beauty stores. They always seem to do a 3 for 2 offer too so you can save some money.

Have you tried the Rimmel Stay Satin Lip Colours?
