Masque Bar Metallic Foil Sheet Masks

As I've mentioned many times before, my skin is all over the place right now, which I put down to pregnancy and hormonal changes. I have been keeping my skin in check by indulging in a face mask or two per week and putting a strict skincare regime in place, and I like to think it's really working for me.

Now over the last few months I have been trying out different face masks, including peel-off masks, clay masks and charcoal face masks, but the ones that I am really favouring over those are sheet masks. They are simple, effective, easy to use, and best of all, they are mess-free. I guess you could say I like the easy option. I mean, all you have to do is whack it out a packet and place it on your face and leave it to work its magic. Pretty simple, eh?

I have tried a few sheet masks over the last few years(though I haven't tried an extortionate amount), but the latest ones that I have put to the test are the Masque Bar Metallic Foil Sheet Masks. I previously tried out the Masque Bar Pretty Animalz Sheet Masks(which I really loved) so I was intrigued to give the new foil sheet masks a go.

There are three different options to choose from; Rose Gold, Silver or Gold. I have put two of the three to the test, Rose Gold and Gold

Masque Bar Metallic Foil Sheet Masks

Each of the sheet masks include different ingredients which focus on a specific skin concern you may have. For example the Silver Foil Sheet Mask includes Aloe Leaf Juice, Anise Fruit Extract and Camadelia Leaf Extract to brighten, nourish and soothe. Now unfortunately I haven't yet had the pleasure of trying this, but I shall get my mitts on it soon! For now, you can get the lowdown on the Rose Gold and Gold options!

The Rose Gold Foil Sheet Mask is enriched with Soybean Extract, Mushroom Extract and Witch Hazel Water to nourish and hydrate the skin. My skin is tricky at the best of times, but with pregnancy it is much more difficult to handle. One minute my face can resemble an oil slick and the next it can be quite dry, however the majority of the time it is a combination of both. At the time of testing this out my skin was a combination of both, oily in the t-zone and dry in various areas of my face(around my nose, cheeks etc). I was so intrigued to see if it would eliminate those bothersome dry patches.

First off, the mask can look a little bit scary. It's a very striking rose gold shade. When I placed it on my face I resembled the tin man from the Wizard of Oz, but I kinda liked that, although I got a strange look from Josh once he seen me wearing it.

The serum within the sheet mask was quite thin in consistency, in fact it felt a little watery as it was leaking from the mask as I removed it from the packet, so I had to be extra careful not to get it everywhere. The mask was a perfect fit for my face and it adhered well to the skin too. Once placed over my face it didn't budge which made walking around a breeze as I didn't have to worry about it falling off, however there was one thing that was troubling me- the serum. It was constantly dripping from my chin, which was strange considering the sheet mask was a great fit, so I chose to sit down for the majority of the time it was on. With that aside, it did feel incredibly lovely on the skin. Once I placed the mask on my face I was hit with the most intense cooling sensation, but then overtime it gradually started feeling warmer. It was if I had just turned the thermostat up. That's a weird way to describe it I know. It was so strange but pleasant nonetheless.

I had it on for a good 10-15 minutes before I removed it(the standard time is 10-20 minutes). After removal you are instructed to pat the serum into the skin(and that I did). The serum did take a while to fully absorb, but once it did, my skin was left feeling a little tacky, however that didn't last long. After around 5 minutes that feeling had diminished. Come morning my skin felt amazing. It was soft, supple, my dry patches had been eliminated AND a big spot I had on my face previously had been reduced massively, along with the redness surrounding it. Now, that wasn't something I expected from a mask that was just supposed to hydrate and nourish. I expect that's down to the Witch Hazel as it's an antibacterial ingredient which has been used countless times within skincare to reduce breakouts and tone the skin.

The Gold Foil Sheet Mask contains Propolis Extract, Lavender Flower Extract and Camelia Flower Extract in order to hydrate, calm and soothe the skin. I was so looking forward to trying this as I especially like calming masks. I am quite prone to redness, whether that's brought on by the weather, hormones or a breakout, so I like to do my best to even out my skin tone when possible.

I placed this on my face after cleansing as I did with the Rose Gold Foil Sheet Mask. Again, the serum had exactly the same consistency, very thin and watery. I placed a towel under my chin to prevent any leakage during the period of time I had it on my face.

I left the sheet mask on my face for 10-15 minutes, exactly as I did with the other one and it felt wonderful on my skin. It had a lovely fresh scent to it which was surprisingly relaxing(I put that down to the Lavender). After removing it I massaged the serum into my skin and shot off to bed, ready to reveal all in the morning.

The next morning my skin felt like it had been given a boost of hydration and it felt very soft and smooth too. The redness that I usually would experience upon wakening was significantly reduced. My fact just felt wonderful, fresh and clean

It was a pleasure to try them out. I am now intrigued to try out the Silver option. You can purchase the Masque Bar Metallic Foil Sheet Masks from ASOS, as well as Feel Unique and Boots.
